Education

Alan is a graduate of American University and Villanova University School of Law and has been awarded Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent Rating by his legal peers, the highest rating available. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Florida, the United States District Courts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Biography

Alan brought over 35 years of litigation and jury trial experience to Capplis Connors when he joined the firm in 2024. After beginning his legal career as a criminal prosecutor and civil litigator with the Rhode Island Attorney General, he opened his own firm where he devoted his practice to the successful defense of physicians, physician extenders, nurses, hospitals, and healthcare entities in Medical and Dental malpractice claims. He has also appeared regularly before regulatory Boards in professional licensure matters in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He has been a member of The Miriam Hospital Clinical Research Review Board, which reviews and monitors medical research involving human subjects and has lectured before Hospital Committees on a variety of topics including Informed Consent, Documentation in the OR, Testifying at Trial and Risk Management for Physicians and Nurses. For over 10 years, he has also been an officer and Board Member of Defense Counsel Rhode Island.
